That’s a quote from something important, right? To thine own self be true? I’m doing that this year. And that’s final.
I’m signed up for a fabulous lifestyle photography workshop and I plan to pour my heart and soul into learning how to effectively capture moments as they happen. So far I’ve been mostly guessing and sometimes getting lucky. I’ve also been doing a lot of people-pleasing. I’ve shot more posed and portraity work than I’d like to. I’ve shot for what I think the client wants. The workshop is being taught by Stacey Woods and I want to crawl into her brain and hide out for a year or so. When people look at my work, I want them to feel the way I feel when I look at hers. I don’t like to copy or even emulate anyone else but from her, I want to learn.
Given that it’s the beginning of the year, I’m full of optimism and ambition. I’m doing a picture-a-day project, otherwise known as a 365 Project. I know there will be days/weeks/maybe even months that I don’t do a picture for the day but just having a reason to shoot something from my every day life is going to help my mojo.
Today it was Lulu in the bath:
