Blog design for photographer Courtney Hathaway

Monday, May 17th, 2010

I love looking at Courtney’s blog.  The background makes me happy.  Her logo is from Sugar Lime.  I tried to take the logo graphics and make a background but it just wasn’t happening.  So we turned to Tracy and she nailed it on the first try.  I admit, I like matchy-matchy.  There’s probably a line between matchy-matchy and well-branded but I don’t know where it lies!

We used the sleek SLR Theme here.  I this geek isn’t the only one that’s happy looking at Courtney’s blog:

Custom blog design for Ten Tiny Toes Photography

Friday, January 8th, 2010

The logo, right?  It’s paisley and it’s FEET!  Tiffany of OTSS designed it.  When we have a logo like this to start with, it usually sets the tone for the whole concept of the blog layout.  That was certainly the case here!  Amy’s taking off big time these days…check her out at the Ten Tiny Toes Photography blog!

Blogsite design for Red Shoe Boudoir Workshops

Friday, January 8th, 2010

Tara is a dear friend.  And was one of my first blog clients ever.  And an amazing photographer.  Especially boudoir.  And oh my gosh, get this, she is doing a workshop in Chicago this spring and I am going!  She promises me that I won’t feel like a giggly, awkward mess the whole time.  I want to learn from her and this will be a fantastic creative stretch for me.

Oh yes.  The blog.  We worked together on her workshop site.  The first step in turning a blog into a blogsite is setting the front page to a static page instead of the main blog posts page.  It goes from a blog to a homepage!  So check out the Red Shoe Boudoir Photography Workshops blogsite and sign up for the Chicago workshop…see you there!

Custom blog and splash page design for Goody Two Shoes Photography

Friday, January 8th, 2010

First things first.  Rachael did our family pics over Thanksgiving.  She did a great job and it was a fab experience for me (us, whatever).  I learned a lot from her about photography but I also learned a lot about being a photography client.

So.  The blog.  Rachael just had her logo done by OTSS so we did a custom blog and splash page based on it.  I love the touches like the signature and the overall simplicity.  You open the blog and you see what you’re looking for.  The very most recent work.  You’re instantly engaged.

I can’t take credit for much of the splash page.  It was all Rachael’s concept.  I even asked her to draw it out for me & she did!  I love the little logo elements by each link!  Check out the Goody Two Shoes Photography blog.  And for pete’s sake, book a session if you’re in the Kansas City area!

Hm.  And suddenly I wish I had a super-cute signature to sign off with….

Basic Tofurious Customization for Honey Grove Photography

Friday, January 8th, 2010

I love that this totally basic makeover ended up looking completely custom.  It shows that if you can really work the header slideshow, it really sets the tone for the whole presentation.  I think the background is my favorite part!  Check it out at Honey Grove Photography…the blog for your SWEET PEEKS.  Yeah, we went there and I’m happy we did!

Janet had her header done by the fabulous Tracy of Sugar Lime Designs.  Then she entered the world of blogging with a bit of trepidation but you’d never know it.  She would be unsure about something one minute and then totally have mastered it the next!  She’s got some gallery slideshows on her blog too so it’s kind of more of a blogsite which is pretty cool.  Check them out at the Janet Power Photography Blog!

I have Summer to thank for my having learned Wordpress.  We’d worked together on a custom blogger template last year.  Then she came to me this spring and said she thought she needed to move to Wordpress.  I agreed to try it, went and bought “Wordpress For Dummies” and that was that.  Thanks, Summer!  http://capturesbysummer.com/blog/ & maybe leave a comment telling her how great it is!

My very favorite thing about Heather is that she calls me “dear”.  She says, “Okay dear, talk to you later!”  and “Hello dear, how are you?” and it always makes me grin.  And Heather is a total figure-it-out-er.  She does her own graphics; she did her own slideshow and she made her own background!  We got the chance to meet this spring at a meetup for One Photo Source and I hope we’re able to get together again sometime soon!  Stop by the Sweet Life Photos Blog and check it out!

It’s so fun when you share a vision with a client from the very beginning.  Megan contacted me about doing her blog and I knew it was going to be a great opportunity for me to really do some fun stuff with the beloved Tofurious Premium theme.  We agreed right away on a layout and went from there.

She has an amazing eye for photojournalistic photography.  I’ll enjoy following the blog almost as much as I enjoyed working on the project.  Visit MeganJane Photography | The Blog!
